Our Staff

David (Director)

Originally from New Zealand, David now calls Ibagué home and he loves to explore its beautiful surroundings. He originally came to Colombia as a backpacker and fell in love with the place and its vibrate, caring people.

He is in charge of the marketing, web site and student enrollment.

Carlos Andrés (Director)

Carlos is Colombian; he grew up in Ibagué and studied business in Bogotá.

He loves languages and speaks English, French and Portuguese as well as Spanish.

He has travelled all over the world and has a great understanding of the needs of travelers.

Jhoanna (Ibagué Co-ordinator)

Jhoanna was born in Ibagué. She studied International Business at University and loves talk with students and learning about other countries and cultures

She works very hard to make sure our students have everything they need to enjoy their time in Ibagué

She also a great knowledge of the city and can always always find a solution to even the trickiest of problems.

Felipe (Salamina Co-ordinator)

Felipe was born in Salamina and he is very proud of his town's reputation as being one of the prettiest in the country

The homestead where the school is based is a protected building and has been in his family for generations.

He is very passionate about photography and he has been responsible for many of the photos used on the web site.

Mayra (Spanish Teacher)

Mayra is originally from Bogotá but prefers the climate and less hectic life in Ibagué.

She has worked for the Department of Education to help improve standards of Adult Education in Tolima.

She is currently studying Latin American Literature at the University of Tolima.

Carlos Julio (Spanish Teacher)

Carlos' passion is literature, both Spanish and English.

He is a prolific reader and likes to use classic Colombian stories in his lessons.

In his spare time he shares his love of reading with local children. He is currently studying Literature at the University of Tolima.

Ángela Maria (Spanish Teacher)

Ángela loves theatre and drama of any kind. In the past she has worked with children using drama to help educate.

She loves to meet people from other countries and one day dreams of traveling to Europe.

Diana (Spanish Teacher)

Diana is new to the Learn More Than Spanish team, but she is fitting in very well.

She loves Spanish and spending time with students.

She also studied Literature at University.

Jaime (Guitar Teacher)

Jaime is the character of the school. He loves to play the guitar and Colombian music in general.

He has an excellent knowledge of a wide variety of Colombian music.

When he is not performing and teaching he studies International Business at the University of Tolima.

Jimena (Dance Teacher)

We don't know how Jimena finds time to run her own dance studio, to take dance classes, to help at a center for children, and also study to be a teacher but we do know we are very lucky to have her.

She has an excellent knowledge of a wide range of dance styles.

Carlos (Bogotá Guide)

Originally from Rio Blanco, Tolima; Carlos is a self-employed in the catering and distribution industry and has been living in Bogotá for many years.

He is the first face our students arriving in Colombia see at the airport and it is always has a big grin on it.
