Where the Fees Go

We are sometimes asked by our students where our fees go and so we have prepared a summary below outlining what we do with the fees we receive.

Fair Payment of Staff

We are aware that the average wage of Colombians is considerably less than that of the home countries of our students. We therefore do our part to help recognize this discrepancy by paying all our staff fair wages that recognizes the considerable contribution they make to our organization and our students.

Spanish tuition

We expect a lot from our Spanish teachers both in the high standards we set as well as the flexibility we require to fit in with the sporadic flow of students. We make sure they are suitably rewarded.

We justify the higher fee for One-to-One classes on the basis that our teachers need to work harder to prepare more specialized lessons for their students. We also honestly believe it provides a high level of tuition as the students receive the full attention and benefit of the teacher's expertise.

Support of location charities

We are very proud to explain to our students that we donate over half of our profits to local charities and organizations working with local disadvantaged people.

We feel a great sense of responsibility to the communities that support us and provide such excellent facilities and opportunities to our students. We feel that by supporting those most disadvantaged in those communities this is the best method we can to show our appreciation.

Accommodation

We pay our the families who offer our students home-stay and farm-stay accommodation options for their kindest at opening their homes to strangers.

While we know they are more than happy to share their lives and enjoy their time with our students but we feel it is important to make sure they are not left out of pocket and feel they are appreciated for their generosity.

We also pay the volunteer organization Let's Go Volunteer we use to provide the Volunteer house accommodation option. They are a self-funded charity and we are happy to contribute to their work with both the fees of our students and the work they provide.

Promotion and Marketing

We of course, like all businesses, need to promote and market ourselves in order to reach our customers. The costs of our web site and getting it seen by potential students is a necessary expense. We also make use of printed advertising from time to time.

The school was really flexible and I really appreciated that I could change my program after two weeks to do some volunteering as well.

Some of the other schools I looked at had really complicated pricing. I liked that Learn More Than Spanish had a simple per week price that was cheaper as well.
